AP 613: Bomb Threat

Background

A "bomb threat" poses a serious potential hazard to the safety of students and staff and,
therefore, requires immediate action.

Persons guilty of making "bomb threats" shall be subject to both Board and legal
disciplinary action.

Procedures

  1. Upon receipt of a "bomb threat", staff and students shall be immediately evacuated from the building;
  2. Alternative housing for students and staff shall be arranged (as required) during the period of evacuation;
  3. Police authorities be contacted to conduct an immediate search of the building and a subsequent investigation of the threat;
  4. The decision to return students and staff to the evacuated building shall rest with the Principal and/or Emergency Services Personnel.
  5. The Principal shall recommend expulsion of any student who issues a "bomb threat".
