Northern Lights Public Schools is proud to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of Boris Rodriguez, a Computer and IT Technician serving schools in the Cold Lake area. His exemplary work ethic and personable demeanor have been instrumental in ensuring students and staff have access to educational technology.
Jessica Gunn, a Grade 3 teacher at North Star Elementary, spoke highly of Boris, stating, “I don't think the individuals who work behind the scenes in our schools receive enough recognition, and Boris is one of those unsung heroes. Whenever I encounter an issue, Boris is always quick to lend a hand. Even when he can't be there right away, he provides us with useful tips and tricks to troubleshoot independently. He graciously entertains all our queries regarding the technology in our classrooms, regardless of their complexity.”
Gunn further commended Boris for his efficiency and his ability to engage with students in the classroom. “Just the other day, my computer malfunctioned right before the start of the school day. Boris swiftly resolved the issue by mid-morning, allowing us to resume our activities with minimal disruption. He's always friendly and kind to the students and we are so grateful for the work that he does, and how he interacts with everyone at the school.”
Boris joined Northern Lights Public Schools in 2022, bringing with him a wealth of experience in internet installation, tech support, and machine operation. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking and biking, among other outdoor pursuits. "Many of my interests involve learning new things and discovering how I can apply them elsewhere," he shared, a sentiment reflected in his professional endeavors.
"Since Boris joined our team, I have consistently received glowing feedback from our school staff in Cold Lake and across the Division," remarked Bob Barrett, NLPS Director of Educational and Information Technology. "Our teachers frequently express how Boris consistently goes above and beyond expectations. He continuously seeks out new learning opportunities to better support our staff and students. While our computer technicians typically serve specific areas, Boris has travelled throughout the entire division to install equipment, always with a positive attitude. We are incredibly fortunate to have him as part of our team."
