Purpose and Nature of the Scholarship
The scholarship is presented by the Fred and Ekaterina Frolov in support of students who demonstrate the greatest commitment to Russian language and culture. As members of the White Russian community, The Frolov family takes great pride in honoring the traditions and language of the community and the contributions the community has made to Plamondon area.
Fred and Ekaterina Frolov wish to encourage White Russian youth to be fluent in their heritage language and appreciate the unique cultural values of the White Russian community. This award recognizes those students who have excelled in this area.
The annual scholarship will consist of:
- a cash award of $500
- a certificate
Qualification Criteria
- Criteria:
- the student must be a current graduate of Ecole Plamondon School and can only apply in their graduating year;
- the student must have a Grade 12 average of 75% or more;
- the student must be recognized for fluency in the Russian language;
- the student must provide a letter of recommendation from the Principal of Ecole Plamondon School;
- the student must provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher who can attest to the talent and aptitude of the speak Russian;
- the student must show evidence that they participate and/or contribute to the White Russian community.
- If more than one candidate achieves substantially identical performance in the Qualification Criteria included above, the award shall be given to the student with the greatest financial need as determined by school personnel. If both candidates are still deemed to be substantially identical, the award may be evenly divided between them.
- Submission for consideration of this award should be made no later than May 31st of the student’s graduating year. The selection will be made by the EPS Russian Parent Council. The winner will be notified by mail and the award made at the annual awards night in September.
