Purpose and Nature of the Scholarship
This scholarship is presented by Richard Creelman and ACCESS Pipeline in support of students pursuing post-secondary educational opportunities in a trade or vocation of their choice. The sponsors of this award wish to recognize École Plamondon School students who are passionate about trade or vocation related occupations.
The trades provide a challenging, satisfying, well-paid, and well-respected career choice. Students choosing this route often emerge as independent entrepreneurs or supervisors and managers in large and prestigious companies such as ACCESS Pipeline.
The annual scholarship will consist of:
- a cash award of $1,000
- a certificate of recognition
Qualification Criteria
- Criteria:
- the student must be a current graduate of École Plamondon School and can only apply in their graduating year;
- and a resident of Northern Lights Public Schools;
- the student must be clearly on track for an Alberta High School Diploma;
- the student must be entering a provincially recognized post-secondary educational institution;
- the student must provide a letter of recommendation from a suitable party, who can attest to the talent and aptitude of the student to successfully pursue a program in the chosen field of study;
- students must agree to participate in a selection committee
interview should their application be short-listed.
- If more than one candidate achieves substantially identical performance in the Qualification Criteria described above, the award shall be given to the student with the greatest financial need as determined by the selection committee.
- Scholarship funds shall be held in trust by the Secretary-Treasurer of the Northern Lights Public Schools Board for a period not to exceed one year from the student’s acceptance and institution attendance can be confirmed. A letter of indenture would also be acceptable proof of attendance.
- Submission for consideration of this award should be made no later than May 1st of the student’s graduating year. The winner will be notified by mail and the award made at the École Plamondon School annual awards ceremony.
Scholarship Selection Committee
The Selection Committee will consist of:
- Access Pipeline representative
- Richard Creelman or designate
- Community Member from the Plamondon Area
Procedures
- Only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
- The Selection Committee will meet prior to the Plamondon Awards ceremony to review the applications. Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by the Awards ceremony.
- The application should be submitted no later than May 1 by completing the application form below or by downloading an Application Package and submitting it to the following address:
