An important part of the work our schools do in June is to prepare students for the next stage in their learning journey. This month our Student Advocacy Counsellors and Wellness Coaches will be sharing information on making a smooth transition from the routine of being in school to summer adventures and some tips on how to prepare for the next school year, including addressing the anxiety that comes along with encountering new situations and experiences.
Here are some activities you can do at home to help your children prepare for change, whether it’s going to a new school next year or another life change they may be experiencing:
- Change Is (plant, love, grow)
This activity can help your child identify how change affects them and how they can deal with changes in their life. - 7 Ways to Help KIds Cope with Big Life Changes (Big Life Journal)
Includes strategies that can help your child feel safe, adjust, and build resilience as they navigate change. - Middle Grade Books About Dealing With Changes (Reading Middle Grade)
A list of 25 books for middle grade students that focus on dealing with change.
