Nominations are now open for three awards that recognize the achievements and contributions of Kindergarten to Grade 12 students throughout Northern Lights Public Schools.
"We want to celebrate our students who are making positive contributions to their school communities," said Board Chair Karen Packard. "Whether it’s helping to make our schools more welcoming, demonstrating dedication to learning and resilience, or promoting culture and community, we believe it is important to recognize our students’ accomplishments.”
The Board introduced the Impact Award last year and recognized 23 students from 16 schools for their leadership, advocacy, and contributions to fostering a positive school culture. This year the Board has added two new awards: the Resilience Award, which recognizes students who demonstrate growth and perseverance while pursuing their personal and academic goals, and the Seven Teachings Award, which recognizes First Nations, Metis and Inuit students who demonstrate dedication in pursuit of their educational path, rooted in cultural pride and growth.
Nominations for all three awards can be submitted online. The deadline for nominations is April 1.
