New Assistant Principals for Cold Lake schools

Northern Lights Public Schools is pleased to share two Assistant Principal appointments for schools in Cold Lake for the 2024-2025 school year.

David Elliott, currently a teacher and Student Support Team coordinator at Nelson Heights School, has been appointed Assistant Principal of North Star Elementary School. Kelly Eagles, currently a teacher and athletic director at Cold Lake High school, has been appointed Assistant Principal of Nelson Heights School.

“We are excited to welcome two experienced teachers to new leadership roles at our schools in Cold Lake,” said Superintendent Rick Cusson. “Both David and Kelly are already known as leaders at their current schools and this will be an opportunity for them to share their knowledge and skills with students and staff at new locations while also continuing their own learning journeys.”

In addition to working as a teacher at Nelson Heights since 2002, Elliott has previously served as the division’s Summer School Principal, and taught online with Learning Together Anywhere School.

“I'm so excited to be joining the amazing team at North Star as Assistant Principal!” said Elliott. “I look forward to this new opportunity to build connections with the community and contribute to the learning environment at NSES!”

Eagles has a Masters of Athletic Administration from Grace College in addition to a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Kinesiology degrees. She has been a physical education teacher at Cold Lake High School since 2006 and became athletic director in 2009. She also served as acting Assistant Principal at the school from March to June 2022.

“I am honoured and excited to join Nelson Heights School and work with the amazing staff,” said Eagles. “I can’t wait to meet, learn and grow with the students.”
